How to be a Budget Bride

If you see a dress online that you like, find out if its stocked locally and go and try it on. If you are certain that its for you, and you know you can make a big saving, ask a family member or friend to help you take your measurments so that you get them correct. Don't be frightened of taking a look what sites such as ebay have to offer, as you can often find brand new dresses or even designer dresses at a fraction of the cost. Don't forget that some chain stores such as Asda and Debenhams do now have a wedding section with very cost effective dresses. If you would be happy with a coloured wedding dress, try searching for prom dresses or ball gowns, as they are just as glamorous, but often much cheaper.
Budget Wedding Underwear
Most high street stores and even supermarkets now offer beautiful, sexy lingerie at a fraction of the price of wedding suppliers.p>
Low Cost Bridal Shoes
Although you want to feel magical from head to foot, be realistic, most people won't see your feet as you're likely to be in a long dress. Places like Debenhams and British Home Stores sell bridal footwear for as little as £20.
Budget Wedding Head Dresses
As with the dresses ordering online could be the way to go or keep a look out for sales. Ebay has a massive selection of brand new tiaras, most of which are sent from Hong Kong or Australia, but ordered in plenty of time they will save you lots of money and will be exquisite. If you look at tiaras in wedding dress shops they are likely to cost you over £100, but high street stores, such as Debenhams, have ranges starting from as little as £25. Also, take a look around just before Christmas, as many more shops will sell "bling" and you may pick up something that you just can't get at other times of year.
Wedding Day Perfume
Choose wisely, don't go for an over the top sickly scent as you are going to be in a room with a number of people for quite some hours. Go for an understated scent and invest in a handbag size bottle for you to re-apply throughout the day. Also be careful not to get your perfume on your dress as some perfumes can mark and this is not something you want to find out on your wedding day.
Wedding Day Hair and Make-up
If you decide that you want to go to a salon ensure that the cost of your hair and make-up includes a trial run, if it doesn't ask if it can as you don't want to discover too late that your make up is a sight and your hair looks like you have got stuck in a hedge on the way to the wedding!
If you decide to do your own make up, leave plenty of time so you don't feel pressured and also do your own trial run, pick what you want and stick to it, don't get carried away and regret it. Where your hair is concerned it can be quite difficult to do it yourself unless you are having it down, so enrol the help of one of your bridesmaids or your Mum. Again do a trial run and leave it done for as long as you can as you want to see if it drops or becomes uncomfortable.
Something Old
Ask your Mum, Aunties, Friends etc if they have something old which they are willing to donate to you for the day. It could be a ring, a necklace or even a lace handkerchief (unused of course).
Something New
Your dress, shoes or underwear, lets be honest you are bound to be wearing something new so you don't really need to worry too much about this one.
Something Borrowed
This could double up with the something old if it has been lent to you for the day.
Something Blue
Many people choose their garter as it is usually the easiest item to have blue because it isn't necessarily going to be seen. If not, simply stitch some blue cotton onto the inside of your dress or underwear.
Wedding Day Nail Ideas
Make the decision about your nails in plenty of time - are you haveing them natural or coloured? Real or fake? If you have good nails and are just having them painted, don't go for a garish colour, and make sure you do them first thing in the morning allowing plenty time for them to dry. Having your nails done in a salon will be costly; ask one of your bridesmaids if they can do it, but have a trial run a few weeks before just in case its a mess! If you do opt to go to a salon, try and go the day before the wedding - if its not a Saturday it may be cheaper, and if your bridesmaids are having their nails done, a block booking may be cheaper (and more fun).
Wedding Day Skin Care
If you are going to have a facial do it at least a week before as facials do tend to bring out any dirt under your skin and this can result in a pimple outbreak! If you cannot really afford to go to a salon, get a reputable facial pack and maybe ask your bridesmaids round too and have a facial pamper night. You could always get together again on the night before your wedding and use this night for nail painting if you decide not to go for the salon option. Remember though no face packs the night before! If you would like a fake tan, test weeks before as they can be patchy or even rub of, if your dress is white or ivory this could be a disaster!
