When doing your comparisons don't just check cost, compare quality and time scales too as this could prove to be vital.
Which ever options you decide to choose it is important that when you are shown the sample invites to approve read, re-read and ask two other people to check them for errors, better to be safe than sorry and sometimes it is very easy to miss a mistake.
Budget Wedding Place Cards
You could choose to make your own as a lot of places stock quite cheap plain place cards, the cost does tend to escalate when you ask to have names printed onto them.
If you are not having a wedding breakfast then place cards should be not needed at all unless you choose to still have a table plan.
If you decide on having the plain place cards and adding the names yourselves, then invest in a calligraphy pen and ask a family member or friend with nice handwriting if they will write the names on. Or you could buy letter stickers and stick the names on this can be quite time consuming so make sure you leave plenty of time.
