For a traditional wedding you are looking at having to pay for a sit down wedding breakfast, drinks for on arrival and for the toasts, and then a buffet for your evening guests. Prudent Minds has suggested many ways you can cut down on this cost in our wedding reception section.
Consider asking the venue if you can do your own catering as this will work out more cost effective, but keep in mind that this is a lot of work, means a very early start and can be stressful. Some of your family might volunteer to do the buffet for you to give you a more relaxing day.
Budget Wedding Wine and Champagne
If you are not having a Wedding Breakfast this may not be needed and will save quite a bit of money, however if you do want to provide wine and champagne for toasts check with your guests when asking which food option they would like if they would prefer white or red. Once you have given this to the hotel or reception organiser make sure that you will in fact be refunded for any wine or champagne which is not used.
