Hallowe'en to cause havoc for drivers
Drivers beware - Hallowe'en brings road hazards.
Motorists are being urged to take extra care on the roads on Friday night as trick or treaters and partygoers present a hazard on the roads.According to the RAC foundation, Friday is the worst day of the week for road accidents, regardless of the spooks that will be running around the streets.
And since Hallowe'en always coincides with the arrival of darker evenings, the potential for accidents is even higher.
The RAC foundation is warning motorists to be aware that the excitement caused by the event means children may be less likely to look before crossing the road.
Dark cloaks and other spooky costumes may also make them more difficult to spot.
Drivers who are involved in a Hallowe'en accident could find themselves facing motoring convictions. They may also find it more difficult to secure cheap car insurance.
Carrying out a routine check of vehicles, in particular the lights, before driving on Friday evening is a good idea, the RAC Foundation states.
Insurance provider More Th>n warned recently that the number of car insurance claims being made by motorists was likely to rise in the days following the daylight saving changeover.
