Over-50s 'can buy over the counter cover'
The Post Office has announced that it will begin selling life insurance to over-50s over the counter.
Over-50s Life Cover, as the new package is to be called, adds to the travel insurance packages that the Post Office already offers over the counter and has the advantage that it provides instant cover.Duncan Caesar-Gordon, the Post Office's head of protection, said that the decision to offer the over the counter service had been taken because the financial uncertainty people are facing means that they need peace of mind more than ever.
He added: "Thinking about the future and how a family will cope should the unexpected happen is an extra worry but a simple plan can ease those worries of those concerned about passing on […] debts."
Last month a survey conducted by Just Retirement found that 24 per cent of people approaching retirement age are saddled with debts.
