Brits are 'Europe's safest drivers'
The results of a recent survey have shown that British drivers are thought to be the safest in Europe.
Over one-third of Europeans believe that Brits are the continent's best drivers, according to the study, which was conducted by car insurance provider swiftcover.com, a subsidiary of AXA.Furthermore the survey revealed that 92 per cent of British drivers feel safe on UK roads, as opposed to the European average of 72 per cent.
The survey also revealed that people in the UK are better educated about dangerous driving than their European counterparts, with 92 per cent of British respondents to the survey saying that drink driving is dangerous, compared to an average of 85 per cent on the continent.
Tina Shortle, marketing director at swiftcover.com, said: "It is clear that British drivers put safety higher up on the agenda when driving compared to their European neighbours."
Last month a survey by moneysupermarket.com found that car insurance premiums increase by an average of 82 per cent if the driver has a previous drink driving conviction.
