AA: Snow sees drivers claim on cheap car insurance
The heavy snowfall that has affected much of the UK over the last 24 hours has caused an increase in the numbers of motorists claiming on their cheap car insurance policies, according to the AA.
Simon Douglas, a spokesman for the AA, said that by 10:00, its car insurance call centres had received 30 per cent more claims enquiries than normal, a figure which increased to 50 per cent by mid-afternoon.He added: "Many drivers are completely unused to driving in snow and ice and inevitably the claims are blowing in with the same force as the blizzards.
"I would strongly urge drivers to think twice before setting out on their journey where there are severe weather conditions."
However with services on all busses suspended in the capital yesterday and more public transport disruption predicted for today, many people have had little choice but to get behind the wheel.
