Car insurance provider creates jobs
Esure has announced that it will take on more staff in the near future.
A UK car insurance company has announced that its continuing expansion will create 500 new jobs in the near future.Esure said that despite the current recession, its "rapid sustained growth" during 2008 means that it must now take on more staff to keep up with business expectations.
Peter Wood, esure's chairman, announced that the new workers will be taken on at the car insurance company's Glasgow office.
He added: "In these terrible economic times, I'm absolutely delighted to be able to make a commitment to Scotland and to Glasgow."
The move was welcomed by Alex Salmond, the first minister of Scotland, who claimed: "Today's news is a ringing endorsement of one of Scotland's greatest strengths - our human capital."
Esure was launched by Mr Wood in 2000. The company, which encompasses the Sheila's Wheels brand, also provides home insurance, travel insurance and pet insurance.
