Saga extends balance transfer credit card offer

The balance transfer for credit cards deal on a leading Saga product has been extended.

Consumers aged over 50 and seeking balance transfer credit cards might be tempted by new improvements to the Saga platinum credit card.

The credit card company has extended the balance transfer period for new customers to nine months, with an introductory rate of zero per cent offered for the same length of time.

Both new and existing customers will be able to take advantage of a reduced APR of 11.9 per cent.

Other attractive features of the product include a fair repayment policy - whereby holders pay back debts starting with the most expensive - and a lack of foreign currency charges, making it a good option for those using credit cards abroad.

"The new Saga Platinum credit card will help our customers to make their hard-earned money go further," claimed Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga Group.

Holidaymakers using credit cards abroad may also like to consider the Post Office's offering, which is the market's best all-round card for overseas use, according to moneysupermarket.com.
