Veterinary pet insurance provider finds animals at risk in recession
Veterinary pet insurance provider More Than Pet Insurance has conducted a survey which reveals that many animals in the UK may suffer because of the recession.
More Than Pet Insurance has conducted a survey which reveals that many animals may be at risk of suffering during the recession as pet owners cut back on their veterinary costs.Over two-thirds of those surveyed by the pet insurance provider claimed they would not be prepared to cut back on luxuries such as dining out in order to pay for surprise vet's bills.
More Than Pet Insurance also found that one in ten of those surveyed would be prepared to try their hand at self-diagnosis and administer drugs to their domestic animals themselves, rather than paying for professional assistance.
Peter Markey, head of marketing for More Than, said: "The best way to avoid nasty surprises is to make sure your animal is insured but currently over two thirds of the nations pets are without cover."
Recently, US president Barack Obama joined the ranks of the world's pet owners by buying a Portuguese water dog, which his daughters have named Bo.
