Basic bank account special offer from Alliance & Leicester

Alliance & Leicester is offering basic bank account customers in the UK a cash incentive to switch to its current accounts.

This spring, Alliance & Leicester is attempting to put a spring in the step of UK basic bank account customers by offering them cash to switch their current accounts.

The bank will give people who switch their current account to Alliance & Leicester's Premier Current Account or Premier 50 Current Account before April 28th 2009 £100 as an incentive.

Alliance & Leicester's offer will be available via internet banking, with the money being paid into the new account within four months of it opening, provided that standing orders and direct debits have been transferred across to the account.

Gillian Almond, current account manager for Alliance & Leicester, said: "Alistair Darling and his team have been reviewing the country's finances and whether you are a winner or a loser coming out of this recent Budget, caps now is a great time to review your family finances and give them a cash boost."

The chancellor's Budget included several measures aimed at easing the financial burden on families, including an extension of the stamp tax holiday.
