Money off gift vouchers 'helping cash-strapped Brits'
Many cash-strapped Brits are using money off gift vouchers to avoid paying full price for products, a new study has revealed.
Money off gift vouchers are helping many Brits to save money on their living costs, according to a poll conducted by uSwitch.com.The website's survey found that 53 per cent of people in the UK have recently used money off coupons in a restaurant in order to get more meal for their money.
Just under three-quarters of Brits said they are increasingly loath to pay full price for any item and one-fifth have resorted to cutting their own hair as a money saving measure.
In addition, more than half of people in the UK now take packed lunches into work rather than paying for food.
Louise Bond, personal finance manager at uSwitch.com, said: "The economic slump has created an epidemic of bag-a-bargain consumers.
"The stigma attached to using discount vouchers or even picking up small change off the street is also a thing of the past."
Money off gift vouchers are even popular amongst the rich and famous these days. Recently, Wayne Rooney took his wife Coleen out to dinner and paid using a half price meal voucher.
