Auto insurance tips issued

Auto insurance provider Aviva has published a list of tips to help people claim on their car insurance with a minimum of hassle.

Cheap car insurance provider Aviva has published a list of tips aimed at helping to make car insurance claims easier.

The auto insurer recommended that drivers should collect all the information possible about an accident or incident before they leave the scene.

It advised writing down the models and registrations of all the vehicles involved and taking the names and addresses of any witnesses, as well as the legal requirement of the name and address of any other drivers involved in the incident.

Aviva also said that noting down the condition of the cars, such as whether they are driveable, would also be helpful, particularly in stopping any fraudulent claims

Martin Smith, technical motor claims manager at Aviva, said: "Even minor accidents can be inconvenient and distressing for drivers but capturing the right information at the scene will enable their insurers to determine responsibility quicker."

Until recently, Aviva was known as Norwich Union.
