Utility bills 'could be cheaper' with energy provider switch

Different uses for energy in the home emerge over the summer, and uSwitch.com urges a switch for savers.

Despite the weather being warm at the moment, consumers have been urged to find a better deal on their energy supply to reduce utility bills even further by Confused.com.

The website said that those who switch to one of the many cheap tariffs on the market could save money on their utility bills, meaning peace of mind when using electric fans and air conditioning systems.

Kids being off over the summer holidays can also push electricity usage up as more televisions get switched on, while keeping the beer cold in the fridge for a barbecue can also add to utility bills, according to the company.

Gareth Kloet, head of utilities at Confused.com, said: "Prices have now dropped, plus when energy consumption alters, different tariffs can be better than others, so even if you have switched recently, it could still make sense to switch again."

moneysupermarket.com recently said that consumers could cut the costs of energy bills during the credit crunch by using online billing, which allows more accurate meter readings.
