Money saving tips offered to gap year takers
Students looking to save money while on their gap year have been offered advice by moneysupermarket.com.
moneysupermarket.com has offered some advice to those looking to travel abroad this year without breaking the bank.Students looking to take a gap year before they start their degree in 2010, or graduates just leaving university may want to seek out the best savings account, according to the website, with Principality Building Society's eSaver currently the best in the UK.
A Nationwide FlexAccount is also a recommended option for those travelling round Europe as its debit card does not charge for foreign usage in countries on the continent.
Peter Harrison, travel money expert at moneysupermarket.com, said: "Such a big adventure requires careful financial planning, especially as graduates and students may not have had much money education in the past."
Banking giant HSBC recently announced the launch of a new student bank account available for 17-year-olds, which has additional features, such as an overdraft, once the customer gains a place at university.
