Car insurance warning for 'school-run minefield'

Sainsbury's has warned drivers to stay alert during the school run to lower the risk of accidents.
Car insurance holders are being warned to ensure safety is at the forefront of their minds during the school run.Research by Sainsbury's Car Insurance has found that over one million Britons have had an accident during the school run in the last five years.
The study found the morning school run is more dangerous, with twice as many accidents occurring, over 600,000 compared to over 300,000 during the afternoon period.
It found that 14 per cent of respondents admitted the fear of being late leads to them driving erratically in the morning.
Some ten per cent claimed distractions from children and five per cent said tiredness at the end of the day resulted in them driving with less care than normal.
Lucy Hunter, Sainsbury's car insurance manager, said people need to "stay alert and focussed" during these "often hectic times".
She added: "Busy roads, noisy children in the back seat, and the worry of being late can make the school or nursery run very stressful for drivers."
The AA recently claimed that young drivers who prove they are a less risky driver should benefit from lower car insurance premiums.
