Travellers take advantage of discount voucher codes

Searches for discount voucher codes related to travel firms have doubled in the past year.

Those hoping to escape the UK as the colder weather begins to set in are turning to discount voucher codes which are being offered by various travel firms and websites.

Theme parks, hotels and airlines are all getting in on the trend for discount voucher codes, unique combinations of letters and numbers which allow online shoppers to get money off when they come to check out.

According to the Times, sites like vouchers.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk have been at the forefront of the discount craze and they have seen searches for travel firms double in the past year.

The top companies giving out discount voucher codes include Ryanair, Holiday Hypermarket, Travelodge and Travel Republic, according to online trend monitors Hitwise UK, who spoke to the newspaper.

Robin Goad, director of research at the organisation, said: "Amusement parks like Thorpe Park and Alton Towers offer vouchers because it can be expensive to take a family, so a lot of people look for deals.

"Also, a lot of consumer advice websites encourage families to look for discount vouchers," he added.

Thorpe Park and The Dungeons recently offered those looking to take some time off within the UK's shores a two-for-one discount voucher code, allowing them to save money on their day out.

The Lincolnshire theme park and the popular guide to UK's various dungeons invited people to bring along a friend for free with a printable voucher, according to Self-Catering-Breaks News.
