Twitter users get cheap bargain deals from Travelodge

Consumers thinking of booking a hotel room at a Travelodge may want to check out the company's new Twitter account for some cheap bargain deals.

Travelodge has claimed that it is the first budget hotel brand in the UK to use the social networking site Twitter to offer cheap bargain deals to its customers.

The company believed that due to the number of its customers who already use the internet to book overnight stays at its hotels around the country, it would jump even further into the 21st century by using the innovative market strategy.

Since its launch last week (September 14th), the Twitter page has already seen 15 'tweets' offering cheap bargain deals from sales to competitions, as well as nearly 2,000 'followers'.

To celebrate the launch, those who sign up to receive messages from Travelodge via the social networking site will receive a discount voucher code for £10 off the price of a booking.

Charlie Herbert, e-commerce director for Travelodge, said: "Over 85 per cent of Travelodge reservations are conducted via the web and with such a strong online following, it makes sense to interact with our customers via Twitter.

"This will enable us to instantly tell our followers of latest offers, inform them on new Travelodge openings and keep them updated on general company news. It's an instant, efficient and modern way of interacting with our customers," he added.

Those hoping to escape the UK as the colder weather begins to set in are turning to discount voucher codes offered by various travel firms and websites, the Times recently reported.

Hotels, theme parks and airlines are all getting in on the trend for discount voucher codes, unique combinations of letters and numbers which allow online shoppers to get money off when they come to check out.
