Top tips for Christmas booze bargains offered

The Mirror has said that partiers looking for cheap alcohol deals this Christmas should buy now before prices are hiked.

Those looking to take advantage of potential bargains on alcohol this Christmas have been given some advice by the Mirror.

The newspaper has listed eight tips to get cheap booze for the festive season, including purchasing any alcohol now in order to avoid the price hikes which arrive closer to December 25th.

Searching the internet can be beneficial to grab the bargains offered online, according to the publication, although supermarkets will also be rushing to provide discount prices.

Shrewd consumers could also buy supermarket-branded lemonades and colas to act as mixers, as "once they're mixed with the alcohol, you won't be able to taste the difference".

The newspaper added: "If you do plan to spend at least £300 on booze, it's worth heading to France to avoid paying the record-high UK duty."

It cited an offer from Majestic Wine, which has warehouses in Calais and Coquelle, allowing one car and five passengers to grab a free Sea France ferry crossing when they pre-order more than £300 worth of alcoholic drinks.

A recent report from money transfer service PayPal revealed that the majority of people living in the countryside are using the internet to do their shopping and pick up online bargains.

Some 94 per cent of village residents said that they are taking advantage of deals available on the net, with 42 per cent claiming that choice and convenience are the reasons why travelling to the high street is no longer the best option.
