Bank Santander offers zero per cent balance transfer credit card

The Spanish bank is offering a zero per cent balance transfer credit card to existing customers.

Santander has announced plans to reward existing customers with the launch of a new zero per cent balance transfer credit card.

The Spain-based retail and commercial bank has recently (19th January) made the zero current account available to its current account holders.

The bank's newest initiative will allow customers to transfer balances from an existing credit card without incurring a fee.

Current account holders will also be able to take advantage of the card's current benefits, which include zero per cent interest on balance transfers for a year and a zero per cent foreign exchange fee.

In addition, those who do not hold a current account or mortgage with Santander are still able to apply for the account.

However, new customers would incur a three per cent balance transfer fee.

Emma Roberts, director of Santander Cards, said that the latest initiative is further evidence of the bank's commitment to rewarding loyal customers.

She added: "By offering the zero credit card with no balance transfer fee to our existing mortgage and current account customers we are providing customers with a completely unique proposition within the market."

Santander recently started the process of rebranding its Abbey and Bradford & Bingley branches.

The rebranding of UK branches continues Santander's policy of running under the same name and brand image across all international markets.

Since the integrated identity was introduced in 2005, Santander has also rebranded in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
