Young people have been urged to take out travel insurance before jetting off, following a survey from Sainsbury's bank.
According to the study almost 1.5 million people aged 30 and under will travel without cover this year.
This is in spite of the fact that this age group is more at risk when travelling than any other. As a result Sainsbury's bank is encouraging the under 30s to think hard before setting off on holiday without cover.
The survey showed that while a quarter of 25 to 34 year-old respondents have experienced problems abroad, this number fell to 17 per cent for the 35 to 44 age group.
Robert O'May, travel insurance manager at Sainsbury's Bank, said: "Our research shows that younger people tend to be at greater risk of suffering misfortune on holiday than older people, which makes it all the more important that they have travel insurance."
