NORWICH UNION TO HELP CURB ACCIDENTS AT WORK

Article date: 15/08/2005 : 15:40:32

Norwich Union has announced that it has helped to produce a health and safety guide for those in the agriculture business.

Working together with the Health and Safety Executive, Norwich Union says it has supported the updated version of Farmwise: Your essential guide to health and safety in agriculture.

The guide is intended as a training and reference aid for brokers, as well as teaching those in agriculture how to deal with and implement health and safety issues.

David Bruce, product manager at Norwich Union, said: "In the last ten years an average of 49 people a year have been killed because of agricultural and horticultural work activities.

"By supporting this guide we hope to help eliminate hazards and control risks to reduce the number of injuries and ill health in this industry."

The company says that its collaboration with the HSE demonstrates its commitment to preventing accidents in the agricultural sector.
