Article date: 14/09/2005 : 12:55:56

ASDA and engage Mutual Assurance have announced that they are to launch an over 50's life cover plan.

According to engage the scheme will offer UK residents aged between 50 and 75 life cover with fixed premiums from £7 per month.

Applications do not require a medical and a tax-free lump sum of up to £16,208 will be paid out to loved ones upon the death of the policy holder.

Commenting on the launch, chief executive of engage Mutual Assurance, Andrew Haigh, said: "We believe that this product is one of the best on the market, offering competitive premiums to go hand in hand with our other financial protection products.

"We are delighted to have ASDA as a partner, who shares our views on offering good quality, value for money products as well as friendly and proficient customer service."

ASDA's director of financial services, Gev Lynott, went on to explain that he expects the guaranteed acceptance and fixed premiums associated with the plan to make it highly attractive.

"ASDA customers who take out a plan online, will also automatically receive a £30 gift card to spend in store, plus your first monthly premium will be paid for you - which could be anything up to £30," added Mr Lynott.
