Halifax provides premium pet policy

HALIFAX PROVIDES PREMIUM PET POLICY

Those on the lookout for premium cover for the pets can now turn to the Halifax, which has announced it is offering "five-star" pet insurance in two separate packages.

Halifax Pet Insurance offers each pet £1,000 worth of cover a year for vet fees and is available from £3.50 a month for cats and £4.10 a month for dogs.

Pet owners can also go that little step further and take out Halifax Pet Insurance eXtra, which offers up to £6,000 worth of cover a year for vet fees alone.

Where the standard pet insurance product offers £500 for advertising and reward, £500 for boarding fees and £1,000 for holiday cancellation, the eXtra option doubles this amount in each instance.

Halifax says that the fact that all these amounts are renewed each year makes its products more attractive than those offered by other providers, who often only provide flat cover on each condition.

Commenting on the launch, John Bennett, head of products at Halifax Pet Insurance, explained: "Many other providers' policies only offer cover on a per condition basis, meaning that once the limit for vets' fees has been used up there is no further cover available for the conditions already treated.

"With Halifax Pet Insurance, pet owners can now get the necessary long-term treatment for their pets on an annual basis, without having to spend a fortune on vet's fees."
