SAGA EXTENDS HEALTH COVER

Article date: 23/09/2005 : 14:27:47

Saga Insurance has extended its health policies to cover dental treatment up to £190 and physiotherapy and osteopathy up to £400.

The changes come as a response to customer demand for better cover for everyday treatments and come under the branding Cash Plan level three. According to a statement from the firm it completes Saga's of Health Cash Plans, offering products to suit a range of budgets and requirements.

According to Saga, the demand for dental cover is a result of the increasing number of people turning to private practices as NHS dentists become harder to find.

For those who are registered with an NHS dentist costs now stand at £40 to £50 for a check up and £80 to £100 for a small filling.

"The lack of NHS provision for dentistry, chiropody and chiropractic treatment has driven many people to go private," explained Saga chief executive, Andrew Goodsell.

"People are increasingly looking for ways to offset the cost of these treatments, which is when health cash plans become particularly useful."
